Dave Reilly A coaching member of USA Swimming since 1972, Head Coach Dave Reilly has led Woodbridge Aquatic Club since the fall of 2000. In the late 70s Dave initiated and developed the nationally recognized Senior Swimming program at the Wilton YMCA and was inducted into the Wilton Y Wahoo Swimming Hall of Fame in 2002. In 1989 he was voted CT Girls High School Coach of the Year for his championship team at Ridgefield High School. His 1993 Ridgefield High School Boys team was CT Class L and CT Open State Champions. The rest of the 90’s found Dave coaching in California during which time he chaired the Central CA Age Group Swim Committee, 1995 and 1996, and served as Head Coach of the Central CA Zone All Star team, competing in championships in Maui, HI and Seattle, WA. While coaching in Bakersfield, Dave trained 2006 Olympic Silver Medalist Gabe Woodward during Gabe’s formative high school years. Since returning from CA and joining WAC, Dave has co-chaired CT Swimming’s Technical Planning Committee, 2003 – 2005 and was a member of CT Swimming Senior Committee, 2006 - 2009. He is currently the Chair of CT Age Group Committee, is the current Meet Director for the CT Age Group Short Course and Long Course Championships, and additionally is a member of CT Swimming Board of Directors. Coach Reilly was awarded CT Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year in 2006.
Debbie Druyff Debbie Druyff joined the Woodbridge Aquatic Club coaching staff in the spring of 2008, heading our Intro to Competitive Swimming Program and working with our Age Group Squads. She is presently our Head Coach of Age Group Swimming. Debbie came to WAC with a multitude of aquatic experiences: in the second half of the 80’s Debbie served as Director of Aquatics at the Ridgefield YMCA, during which time she was also the Head Age Group Coach of the Y’s swim team. In 1990, when the swim team merged with Norwalk Aquatic Club, becoming Zeus Aquatic Club, Debbie joined the newly created team as its Head Age Group Coach. In 1993 Debbie and our Head Coach Dave Reilly married and moved to California. Debbie again worked as Head Age Group Coach, first in Bakersfield, CA and later in Corona, CA. Moving back to CT in 2000, Debbie worked as Director of Aquatics at the Westbrook YMCA before accepting the position of Head Age Group Coach for the Cheshire YMCA Swim Team, where she coached from 2001 - 2005. Debbie is a graduate from Springfield College where she also earned her M.Ed in Recreation Therapy.
Tom Jurzynski Coach Tom Jurzynski is an alumnus of Woodbridge Aquatic Club, swimming for WAC from 1992 until 1999. A graduate of Holy Cross High School and Western Connecticut State University, Tom was an All-State swimmer in high school as well as a state open qualifier. Tom joined the WAC coaching staff in 2008 and his implacable deportment has been instrumental in contributing to our day to day training environments. Tom is involved in every aspect of WAC swimming levels, training and teaching our newest additions to the team as well as training our Age Group and Senior Squad members. In addition to duties at WAC, Tom works as an assistant coach for both the Seymour High School Girls Swim Team and the Masuk High School Boys Swim Team. Prior to WAC, Tom was Head Coach of the Wildcat Swim Club in Seymour.
Jon Yelenik Coach Yelenik completes his first season with WAC as a member of the WAC coaching staff, overseeing our Intro to Competitive Swimming Squad as well as contributing extensively to all our training squads. Jon also stayed busy this WAC season completing his 10th competitive year with WAC, successfully posting personal best performances in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles. Jon currently is enjoying his freshman year at Southern Connecticut State University.
